The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Takes Home A Fangoria First
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre wins the first ever Fangoria Chainsaw Award for Best Video Game!
Every year, Fangoria throws The Chainsaw Award ceremony to honor horror with a show where the fan vote matters most. In 2024, Fangoria introduced a video game category, in order to honor this expansion of the horror genre into the interactive space.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was nominated, but would have to beat out some other iconic, juggernaut horror titles to take home the statue. Titles like Alan Wake 2 and a pair of remakes for Dead Space and Resident Evil 4 brought some healthy competition, but Texas came out on top.
Why? All thanks to our community. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has a rabid and devoted fanbase stemming from the deep and immersive experience and lore the game offers. Their fervor for Muerto County had the fandom mobilize to ensure that their favorite game made history.
Thanks to you, the players, dedicating your votes for the characters you’ve grown to love, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was the first horror game to win this award. The team cannot thank you enough for your support of not just the games we make, but the way we make games at Gun.
Here’s hoping we have a long future ahead for the Video Game category in the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards and we’ll be here to celebrate all the winners to come. Because more horror games being made and honored is a win for all horror fans, ourselves included.
